of the seven options in the CTVA major has a core of courses
required to complete the degree program. In addition, the
Film Option has a Portfolio Review which must be completed
and accepted to enter that option. In Fall 08, the Screenwriting Option will also have a Portfolio Review which must be completed and accepted to enter that option.

Students
interested in entering the Film Production Option in the Department
of Cinema and Television Arts must first complete their G.E.
requirements and take 5 prerequisite courses. These courses
are CTVA 100 (Introduction to Mass Communications), CTVA 210
(Television-Film Aesthetics), CTVA 220 (Foundations of Media
Writing), Art 250 (Photography I), and CTVA 250 (Fundamentals
of Film Production). The courses may be taken here at CSUN
or elsewhere. Once these courses have been taken the student
must apply for Portfolio Review. If accepted the student will
enter the Film Production Option. If not accepted the student
can choose another option in the department or re-apply.

have completed one of the Skill Area courses in Semester
