ARTHUR WATSON RADIO/TELEVISION SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP

One $500 award

Class Level:

Student must be a junior or senior.

Academic Achievement:

CTVA Department - 3.5 grade point average in Cinema and Television Arts courses; overall University GPA may also be taken into consideration.

Area of Emphasis:

Student has demonstrated an outstanding classroom record in electronic media management courses. Student must have successfully completed CTVA 480 and/or 481 or equivalent courses. Student has a professional goal of a career in the radio/TV sports. Student must have demonstrated a serious interest in a career in radio/TV sports. Students who have completed or in the process of doing an internship in radio/TV sports are encouraged to apply.

Procedure for Student Applicants:


  1. Complete the Scholarship Application Form available online or in the CTVA Department (MZ 195).
  2. Submit a one page composition in which you discuss why you wish to work in the field of audience research, the work you have already done in radio/TV sports, your employment goals over the next five years and your specialization in your work at CSUN. 
  3. A Scholarship Letter of Recommendation must be provided by three individuals. One of the letters must be from a full-time faculty member in the CTVA Department. List the people you have contacted for a recommendation as your references on the applications. Those writing the letters willsubmit Letters of Recommendation under separate cover to the CTVA office.

The Arthur Watson Radio/Television Sports Scholarship was established by  Robert Gustafson in memory of his mentor, the late president of NBC Sports.
